How It Started

Ashley and Trent met through mutual friends in 2016 when they were in school at Sturgeon Bay High School. The couple got engaged in October 2023 at Cave Point County Park in Door County. They were celebrating their anniversary by taking a trip to Fall Fest in Sister Bay with some friends. The group decided to stop by Cave Point for a little hiking. When the group stopped by the water to take some pictures, Ashley’s friend called her over to fix her hair for the photos. When she turned around, Trent was on one knee proposing.

Ashley and Trent had a small rehearsal dinner at The Landmark Resort. The dinner consisted of a pasta bar and was attended by the wedding party and immediate family. Following the rehearsal dinner, the couple had a bonfire outside of the Carrington Restaurant at Landmark. This was a perfect way to welcome their out-of-town guests, spend time with friends and family, and was also a great way to relieve a little stress.

Wedding Looks

Bridal Boutique:
Victorian Bridal

How many dresses did you try on?
Ashley says that she only went to one shop to look for her dress- Victorian Bridal. She says that she tried on about 10 dresses and her dress was somewhere in the middle of the process. She says that she knew it was her dress because, “my family got emotional as soon as I walked out of the dressing room.” She says that every dress she tried on afterwards, she kept comparing it to that dress. That’s when she knew that she had found “the one.”

Ceremony Details

Location:
The Landmark Resort, Egg Harbor

Ceremony Details and Favorite Moments:
The ceremony took place outside at Landmark Resort. The couple’s officiant had emailed both Ashley and Trent separately a week before the wedding and asked them how they felt about marrying each other. At the ceremony, he read their responses aloud. They also wrote their own vows to further personalize their ceremony. Not wanting to exclude anyone, when one of Trent’s grandparents were unable to attend the wedding due to health issues, the couple included them by setting up an iPad so they could livestream the ceremony.

Photo Locations:
Ashley and Trent rented a trolley from Door County Trolley Company for their wedding party’s transportation for pictures. “We loved having our whole wedding party and their significant others on the trolley to take pictures! It was a fun way to celebrate right after the wedding with some of our closest friends and family!” The group stopped at Egg Harbor Marina for pictures as well as the overlook on hole 9 at Alpine Golf Course.
Ashley has high praise for their photographer. “Jerome made the whole picture experience seamless and lots of fun! He knew exactly how to pose us to make us feel comfortable!”

What made you choose the venue?
Ashley and Trent say they chose Landmark Resort because of its breathtaking views, secluded location, and convenience of having guest rooms onsite. They feel it perfectly captures Door County, which the couple wanted since they both grew up there.

Reception Details:
Ashley and Trent kept their décor for the reception simple but personal. Each table had a small floral centerpiece but the table numbers included a photograph of the couple with the corresponding year they were together. Table 1 had a photo from the first year they were together and so on.

The Cuisine:
Guests had their choice of plated dinners: prime rib, pesto crushed salmon, or tortellini primavera Alfredo. They say that dinner and drinks were their biggest wedding splurge but well worth it. They ordered one of each dish because they couldn’t decide. They also hosted beer and wine throughout the night for their guests. And, during cocktail hour, there were two specialty drinks available, Captain & Coke and Old Fashions, the couple’s favorite drinks.

Cake/Dessert:
Sweet Talkin’ Treats, Watertown, WI

Favorite Moments:
Both Ashley and Trent say one of their favorite moments from their reception came at the end of the night when Trent’s dad entertained everyone with his version of Vanilla Ice’s Ice, Ice, Baby and Ashley’s dad showed off his breakdancing skills which included a headstand!
