Patty & Ed’s Wedding
A spring wedding celebration in Green Bay.
Months to Plan: 16 | Guest Count: 130 |
Music down the Aisle: Bridal Chorus | First Dance: Then – Brad Paisley
Ed and Patty of Peshtigo, met through an online dating app. After some time dating, Ed gave Patty a ring and asked her to spend forever with him. It wasn’t until six years later that he asked Patty to marry him by proposing with a candy ring pop while the two were making dinner.
Ed & Patty wanted their wedding venue to be all-inclusive so none of their guests had to drive after a night of celebrating and the Oneida Casino Hotel was a perfect choice their wedding ceremony and reception. Patty chose white and sage green for her colors.
She went to about four or five stores looking for her dress. Patty knew she wanted a dress that was somewhat classic, a satin ball gown but with some bling. She found her dream dress at The Bridal Event in Appleton. Patty says the dress had everything she wanted, with a touch of lace running along the bottom that reminded her of her late mom, it felt as though she was also agreeing that this was the dress.
Oneida Casino Hotel not only provided a great venue for their wedding and ceremony, it also provided a convenient place for the wedding party to get ready and the added bonus for their out-of-town guests to stay. Ed & Patty were incredibly amazed at the friends and family who showed up to share in their special day. Of the 132 invitations they sent out, the couple ended up with an attendance of 129.
The ceremony was held in one of Oneida Hotel’s ballrooms. With both of Patty’s parents having passed away, she asked two of her daughters to walk her down the aisle with her third daughter and one-year-old grandson leading the procession. Ed stood at the alter with his two sons. The ceremony was officiated by Patty’s sister.
Sam Lauersdorf Photography was on hand to capture the day! Unfortunately, rainy weather prevented the couple going offsite to take pictures. Fortunately, Oneida Casino Hotel provided several great photo ops throughout the hotel. Once the ceremony was over, the weather cleared up enough that the couple could get some outdoor photos around the hotel. The couple said that Sam was great about coordinating the photos and creating some beautiful memories of the day.
An informal reception in another ballroom at the hotel followed the ceremony. Oneida Casino Hotel catered the event, serving traditional broasted chicken and beef tips dinners to the guests. Patty’s daughter baked a raspberry and lemon layer cake just for the couple and guests were provided cupcakes from a local bakery.
The couple had their first dance to “Then” by Brad Paisley. This was followed by dancing and celebrating to music provided by TJ Karaoke. The couple included an anniversary dance in their reception to honor other married couples. It turned out that Ed’s parents had been married the longest of all of their guests with fifty-six years together. The couple says that one of the best parts of the day was “spending time with those that matter so much to us. Getting our families all together, which doesn’t happen very often anymore.”
Patty worked with some amazing vendors to coordinate her wedding and put her mind at ease before and on the day of the ceremony. The couple chose Oneida Casino Hotel, not just because they could have everything in one place but because the price was very reasonable and they didn’t have to worry about a separate caterer. They say the staff was excellent to work with and very accommodating to their needs. Patty specifically praises Michelle with Oneida Hotel, stating that she “went above and beyond my expectations of a coordinator. She was always responsive (even to my late at night emails!), eager to set up visits to brainstorm ideas, offered up suggestions, was there day of and at the reception to ensure everything went smoothly.”
In addition to Sam Lauersdorf Photography and the staff at Oneida Casino Hotel, the couple say they would highly recommend any of the vendors that they worked with but specifically mentioned their day-of coordinator, Lisa Eland of Green Bay Bartending and their DJ from TJ Karaoke. They say that both were very helpful and offered suggestions to the couple, helped to ease their nerves, and helped keep the day on-track.
